Understanding asset types
Choose the right asset type—Single, Bulk, or Kit—for your rental inventory.
Updated this week
Choosing the correct asset type affects how you track availability and fulfill orders.
This article explains the three asset types in Rentablez.
Asset types
Single Assets
Individual items with unique tracking.
Use for: Cameras, laptops, vehicles—items where you track which specific unit is rented.
Example: “Canon EOS R5 #12345” and “Canon EOS R5 #12346” are separate assets.
Bulk Assets
Quantity-based inventory tracked by count.
Use for: Chairs, cables, tents—items where quantity matters more than individual units.
Example: “Folding Chairs” with 50 units in stock.
Kit Assets
Pre-configured bundles of multiple assets.
Use for: Wedding packages, camping sets—complete solutions with bundled pricing.
Example: “Photography Kit” = 1 camera + 2 lenses + 1 bag.

Choosing the right type
Choose Single if:
- Item has a serial number
- You need maintenance history per unit
- Each unit is unique or valuable
Choose Bulk if:
- Managing identical items in large quantities
- Individual tracking isn’t needed
- You only need stock counts
Choose Kit if:
- Items frequently rented together
- You want bundled pricing
- Creating complete packages
Tip: Choose carefully—asset type determines how stock and availability are tracked. Switching types later requires recreating the asset configuration.
You’re all set!
You now understand the three asset types and when to use each.
