How to Renew a Warranty?

When a warranty is nearing expiration, you can renew it directly in Rentablez. This updates the expiration date and logs the renewal cost.

Starting a Renewal

  1. Navigate to the Warranty Details page for the asset.
    • You can find this by clicking on the warranty in the asset’s “Warranties” tab.
  2. View the History column in the Warranty Timeline.
  3. Click the History/Renew icon (clock symbol).
  4. If the warranty is active or expired, look for a Renew option (or similar action depending on your permission level).

Entering Renewal Details

In the “Renew Warranty” modal:

  1. New Expiry Date: Select the new end date for the coverage.
    • Rule: The date must be strictly after the current expiry date.
  2. Renewal Cost: Enter the amount paid for this extension (e.g., “199.00”).
  3. Notes: Add details about the renewal (e.g., “Extended for 2 years via holiday promo”).

Completing the Renewal

Click Process Renewal.

  • The warranty’s End Date is updated.
  • The status updates to Active (if it was expired).
  • A record is added to the Renewal History, preserving the audit trail of costs and dates.
