How to Configure Warranty Types?

Before adding warranties to assets, you need to define the Warranty Types available in your system. This helps organize your coverage and report on different kinds of protection.

Accessing Warranty Settings

Navigate to Settings → Warranty Types.

Here you will see a list of all active warranty types, such as “Manufacturer Warranty,” “AppleCare,” or “Third-Party Insurance.”

Creating a New Warranty Type

  1. Click the + Add Type button in the top right.
  2. Name: Enter a descriptive name (e.g., “Extended Coverage”).
  3. Description: Add optional details about what this usually covers.
  4. Color: Choose a color tag for easy visual identification in lists.
  5. Status: Ensure “Active” is checked to make it available for use.
  6. Click Create.

Editing or Deleting Types

  • Edit: Click the Pencil icon next to a type to change its name or color.
  • Delete: Click the Trash icon to remove a type.

Note: You cannot delete a warranty type that is currently assigned to an active asset. You must first reassign those warranties.

  • Toggle Status: Use the toggle switch to disable a type without deleting it. This keeps historical data but prevents new warranties from using this type.
