Configuring Taxes

Rentablez uses a Tax Profile system to manage tax rates. Each profile has a name, a country, and one or more tax components that make up the total rate.

Navigate to Settings > Tax.

Creating a Tax Profile

  1. Click + Add Tax.
  2. Fill in the required fields:
    • Tax Profile: A clear name (e.g., “GST 18%”, “VAT 20%”).
    • Tax Description (optional): A note about when this tax applies.
    • Country: Select the country this tax applies to. The form auto-detects your country from your IP address as a default.
  3. Optionally select a Base Tax Profile to create a hybrid profile. This links your profile to a system-defined base (e.g., the standard GST profile) and inherits its components, which cannot be modified.
  4. Add Components using the Add Component button. Each component has a name and a rate (e.g., CGST 9%, SGST 9%). The Tax Rate field shows the calculated total automatically.
  5. Click Save.

Tax Components

Tax components break down the total rate into its parts. This is useful for regions where the tax is split across multiple levies:

  • India: GST is split into CGST + SGST (for intra-state) or IGST (for inter-state). Select the system GST base profile and the components are added automatically.
  • Other regions: Add components manually (e.g., “State Tax” 5% + “Federal Tax” 10%).

System-defined components (shown as Predefined Components) cannot be edited. You can add your own custom components on top of them.

Applying Taxes

Tax profiles can be assigned to assets in your inventory so they apply automatically to line items on invoices and orders.
